Green Sand Molding is a widely used and economical manufacturing method to make a wide range of metal castings.
How Green Sand Molding is Done
The green sand-casting process utilizes a mold made of compressed or compacted moist sand packed around a wood or metal pattern. The term "green " denotes the presence of moisture in the molding sand, and indicates the mold is not baked or dried. After the mold is made, the pattern is removed, which creates a cavity in the mold. Molten metal is then poured in the mold taking the exact shape of the part.
